Take your time. Keep your questions.

The practical part

# Bring your questions.

Names. Costs. A way back.

Before choosing care, ask for answers clear enough to check.

“What does that include?” is a fair place to start.

The people

## Who is treating me, and who sends the medicine?

Look for a doctor offering visits online or a medical practice you can visit in person. Ask who reviews your health, decides about treatment, and sends the prescription to a pharmacy.

### Ask about the person treating you

Ask for the person’s name and the kind of licence they hold. For a doctor, this could be MD (medical doctor) or DO (osteopathic doctor).

- Who reviews my health and decides about treatment? What kind of licence do they hold?

- Can they treat someone in the state where I will be?

- Which state board holds their licence record?

A state medical board has public records of a doctor’s licence and any published action taken against it.

Even when a licence record shows no published action against it, that record cannot tell you the quality of the care.

[Find the medical board for your state](https://www.fsmb.org/contact-a-state-medical-board/)

### Ask about the pharmacy

Get its name in writing so it can be checked.

- Which pharmacy prepares or supplies this product?

- Where can I check its licence?

- How can I ask its pharmacist a question?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) provides links to state pharmacy licence searches.

The full bill

## What does that price include?

A monthly fee for online weight care can cover the service while medicine costs extra (September 2026 price check).

### A dated price example

As of September 26, 2026, the U.S. drug-price directory listed Wegovy (semaglutide) injections at $199 a month under an introductory offer.

- It was for new patients paying without insurance, covered only certain lower-amount injection pens, and applied to the first two monthly supplies.

- Each monthly supply in this Wegovy offer was a box of four pens.

- The offer terms ran through December 31, 2026.

- After the first two months, listed prices were $349 a month, or $399 for Wegovy HD (semaglutide), the injection with more medicine per dose.

- Ask if the amount of medicine on your prescription qualifies for the offer and which price applies after it ends.

### Ask for the whole bill

Write the pieces down before comparing totals.

- Is the medicine included?

- Are visits, tests, and delivery extra?

- Does the fee change after an offer ends?

- What are the renewal and cancellation terms?

### Ask the insurance plan about the exact use

A Medicare plan may cover semaglutide for uses such as diabetes, subject to its drug list and approval rules (as of September 2026).

- Does my plan cover this product for the reason it is being prescribed?

- What needs to be approved before the pharmacy gives me the medicine?

- What would I pay myself?

As of September 2026, Medicare’s temporary weight-medicine program offered eligible people a $50 monthly copay—the patient’s share—including for Wegovy (semaglutide).

The program starts on July 1, 2026, and ends on December 31, 2027. Who can use it depends on weight, health problems, and drug coverage.

The program’s $50 payment does not count toward your Medicare drug plan’s yearly spending limit.

You still pay the program’s $50 each month after reaching that limit.

After the first visit

## What happens when I have another question?

Bring your medicine list, past health problems, and any pregnancy or surgery plans into the conversation.

- How do my past health problems affect the choices?

- What will be checked as care continues?

- Who answers if symptoms appear between visits?

- What happens if I pause care or cannot afford to continue?

The national medical-board group advises doctors to arrange tests or an examination in person when an online visit cannot provide what is needed.

A clear answer includes the limits.

Checking the person’s name

For a doctor with MD after the name, start with the state medical board. For a doctor with DO, ask which medical or osteopathic board holds the record. This directory lists both kinds of boards.

Checking the pharmacy’s name

Choose your state on the FDA’s map, then search the state’s licence records for the pharmacy’s name.

The cash-price example

Check the offer’s terms on the government price page. The medicine price does not tell you the whole cost of visits, tests, and delivery.
